About David P. Levin

I’ve always been a hard guy to pigeonhole, with more than twenty-five years of creative and production experience, working with companies large and small, creating content for broadcast, digital, corporate and everything in between.

My experience encompasses nearly every genre:  scripted and unscripted, documentary and drama, behind-the-scenes features and on-camera interviews, music and comedy, Emmy winning children’s programming and hard news.

I’ve produced campaigns, marketing, up-fronts, sizzles, pitch reels and on-air promotions for clients like AMC, Bravo, Lifetime, Warner Bros., USA Network, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon. Working with a broad spectrum of clients has given me valuable perspective on what works best for a diverse range of demographics and honed my flexibility in the way I approach each challenge.

My long-form work includes creating and showrunning hit series and specials for MTV, TV Land, Lifetime, Bio, Discovery and others.  I've launched new series in record time, including a daily strip for MTV and a 24 episodes order in eight weeks for Animal Planet.

I co-created and show-ran MTV Uncensored, which began as a one-off special which promoted the Video Music Awards.  That special was a sensation, achieving record-setting ratings in it’s own right, and spun off into a five-year hit series that ultimately garnered multiple Emmy nominations, two CBS prime-time specials, a hard-cover coffee-table book (which I co-authored) and even a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit special.

The series was praised by network executives for providing both effective promotion and compelling content.  (Even the reruns did well!)

I conceived, piloted and show-ran the hit series TV LAND CONFIDENTIAL, which featured candid interviews with hundreds of iconic stars, telling never-before-told stories about their experiences.  The series was not only a valuable promotional vehicle for the network, but also TV Land’s highest rated unscripted original series.

Movie specials I produced for Nick at Nite, MTV and other networks were acclaimed by film execs such as Bob Weinstein, and credited with boosting ticket sales for Sony, 20th Century Fox, Universal, Marvel, Miramax and many others.

Most recently, I’ve worked extensively in digital, meeting new creative (and budgetary) challenges. I launched an on-line network for Next New Networks (now a division of YouTube) and created web content including live-streaming for numerous clients, including Amazon Prime and Roker Media.

While managing my own company, BrainStorm Inc., I’ve been entrusted with top brands and international icons, helping to build franchises, create content and promote movies, television shows and products, winning dozens of awards, including an Emmy, along the way.

I’ve worked with top level executives at companies like CBS, MTV, Marvel, TV Land, and Nickelodeon (to name just a handful) and delivered content that won awards and high ratings.  I’ve directed, collaborated with and interviewed hundreds of A-list stars and talent.

I’m a strong writer, director, producer – and even editor.  I’ve supervised crews of a hundred or more and also been a one-man band. I’m comfortable running a huge set or just running-and-gunning with a camera in my hand.  I’ve produced behind the scenes features at awards shows, movies, TV shows and even on a Michael Jackson music video.  I’ve built teams from the ground up and trained interns who have gone on to become producers, network executives and showrunners in their own right.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look at my work.  I'm looking forward to collaborating with you.
